It's becoming a tradition on Gilana to light up the mast in the pattern of a Christmas Tree at this time of year. 2005 was no exception.
Chrismas dinner took place on the US flagged boat 'QUEST' L-R Louise, Chris, Jeff, Jeanne, Laura and Liz. Interestingly QUEST was designed by my friend Angelo Lavranos.
Jack found time to dress up, he is soo camp sometimes.
Together with Jeff and Jeanne, we hired a little van and did a tour of the island.
The narrow road cut into the volcanic rock.
"The Van"
Natural caves formed by volcanic activity are closed off with concrete and doors, and used as sheds by farmers.
Interesting erosion.
Turistas!
...looking at this view.
Palm trees wherever you care to look.
We spent some time in the Museum of Science and Technology. Here Laura and I pose in a perspective chamber.
Playing with the infra-red camera, we donned sunglasses, and took our heat-portrait. Note how much heat is lost through my roof, while Laura's (left) is well conserved under the hair.
Here Mike (aged about five) gets into the cockpit of an F5 fighter jet.
voooooooom---wheeeeee
Then it was our turn to host QUEST for New Year. Here we sit on the aft deck and watch the fireworks.
Ba-Ba-Boooom
And thats all folks, all the best for 2006, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
