We decided upon the yard "Astilleros de Higuerote" 90 miles further west, mainly because of the fact that the entire yard was cast concrete. Here then are a few photos of the setting, the village of Carenero, one of the poorest towns in the poorest state of Venezuela.
That is the view from the back of Gilana, looking towards a hotel.
The street outside the yard, no internet here at all!
The main entrance of the small hotel.
On our way to make a phonecall.
The phone shop on the left and the Liquouria on the right.
This is where we bought fruit and vegetables.
A view of the yard from the approach.
A waterspout that followed us as we were leaving after the haulout.
We went through quite a stormy patch on our way out of Higuerote. This little chap, we christened "Brutus" had the heart of a lion, he went right into the boat looking for insects.
He was completely unafraid of us, sometimes perching on an arm or shoulder. He left us when we were 1.5 miles from Bonaire.
